Arlington Center for the Arts

The ACA’s big news, which they will be talking about at Town Day, is that they are headed for a new home. (The old building is a town building that’s being repurposed to be a school, due to high student population at present in Arlington. )

The ACA is kicking off a Capital Campaign to raise $600,000 to fund renovations to make the new building into an arts center. The new space will be the two floors above the Arlington Senior Center, housed behind Town Hall in the old Central School Building. It’s a very cool space, but currently it’s configured to be office space, so it needs a total renovation and makeover to become studios and arts classrooms, and a gallery and event space.

Robbins Library

Tuesday 9/6, the Friends of Robbins Library will begin accepting book, DVD and audio book donations for our annual Town Day Book Sale (Sept 17). Please put donations in the big blue bin near the Circulation Desk at the Robbins Library. All proceeds benefit Arlington's libraries! Questions? Are you available to help sort books, or at Town Day itself? Contact Amy McElroy at 781-648-4109;

Jason Russel House

"Throughout the day the Menotomy Minuteman will be at the Jason Russell House offering tours and traditional clothing to try on. Children will be able to make corn husk dolls while the Minuteman play fife and drums, and perform musket drills."

The Jefferson Cutter House

"The Jefferson Cutter House will host Art on the Green, sponsored by the Cyrus Dallin Art Museum. Local artists will sell paintings, prints, collages, photographs, jewelry and stationery."

Redeeming Grace Church

"Redeeming Grace Church is a brand new church in Arlington Heights. We will have a booth at Town Day with FREE water, candy, and information about the church. We hope to see you there!"

Arlington Friends of the Drama

AFD Theatre, also known as Arlington Friends of the Drama, will be at Town Day at our usual booth location at the corner of Mass Ave and Academy Street! AFD Theatre is one of the oldest continuously operating community theaters in the country, and if you don't know us, we want to get to know you. Our 94th season of award-winning community theater opened on September 9 with "The 24th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," which runs Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through September 25. Come by to learn about our season, meet "Spelling Bee" cast members, and AFD members. It's a great opportunity to become a member, which gives you season tickets at a great price!

The Touch Down Club

The Club participates in the annual Town Day celebration with an information booth. The Club also raffles off several prizes, the proceeds benefitting the Club and the youth of Arlington.
